تیم ملی کرکت افغانستان بعد از شکست از تیم امارات متحده عربی در نیمه نهایی جام آسیایی ایلیت ۲۰۱۲ تیم مالیزیا را شکست سنگین داده مقام سوم جام را از آن خود کرد. محمد شهزاد بهترین بازیکن مسابقه شناخته شد.
